A red radio wave tower with a height of 333 m, which can be said as a symbol of Tokyo. There is an observatory and it is lit up at night.

SHIBA PARK
芝公園

A Tokyo metropolitan park built around Zojoji in 1873. There are hotels, sports grands, libraries, tombs, shell mounds, etc. in the park.

1873年に増上寺周辺に作られた都立公園です。公園内にはホテル、グランド、図書館や、古墳、貝塚などもあります。

増上寺

A temple with more than 600 years of  history since 1393. It is said that Zojoji became the ancestral temple of the  Tokugawa family after Ieyasu Tokugawa opened the Edo shogunate.

1393年から600年以上の歴史のある寺院。徳川家康が江戸幕府を開いた時より、徳川家の菩提寺となった言われています。

HAMARIKYŪ IMPERIAL GARDEN
浜離宮恩賜庭園

It was originally built as gardens on the site of a villa of the Kofu clan during the Edo period, but later served as gardens of the Tokugawa family and the Imperial Household Agency before eventually being opened to the public.

Hamarikyu features seawater ponds, which appear with different landscapes changed by the tide. There are many sights to see such as ponds, teahouses, and 300 year-old pines in the gardens.

江戸時代に「甲府藩屋敷の庭園」が始まりで、徳川将軍家や宮内庁を経て、都立公園となりました。
海水の干満により景観が変化する庭園で、池や茶屋、300年の黒松など見所多数。

表参道

Omotesando is one of the streets approaching to Meiji Jingu and now is lined up with various fashion brands. In 2006, the Omotesando Hills shopping complex opened on the Zelkova tree-lined street.

明治神宮の参道のひとつで、現在ではファッションブランドが集うエリアにもなっています。通りにはケヤキ並木があり、2006年に複合施設の表参道ヒルズが開業しました。

MEIJI JINGU
明治神宮

Meiji Jingu was built in 1920 to dedicate to Emperor Meiji after his death. Many visitors come to the shrine where there is a forest landscaped with the hope of the flourished forest 100 years later, Kaguraden, which is a hall for sacred music and dance, a treasure hall, and a training hall for Japanese martial arts.

明治天皇の崩御により1920年に造られました。100年後を想定して造園された森や、神楽殿、宝物殿、武道場などがあり、多くの参拝者が訪れます。

Meiji Jingu Stadium is a baseball stadium owned by Meiji Jingu and the home and the home of Yakult Swallows. The stadium is also used as a concert and event venue.

The Meiji Jingu Gaien is a complex facility, which consists of sports facilities, a kids park, and Meiji Memorial Picture Gallery. Among them, a row of Ginkgo trees is especially famous as the best place to see beautiful autumn leaves.

明治神宮外苑は聖徳記念絵画館といちょう並木があり、秋の紅葉が美しい場所です。

Legend has it that a big frog in the pond protected from a fine in the Edo period.

ARISUGAWA-NO-MIYA MEMORIAL PARK
有栖川宮記念公園

In the Edo period, the park was an urban villa belonging to the Moriowa domain, but Prince Arisugawa-no-miya Takehito as a new master moved there in 1896. After the extinction of the Arisugawa-no-miya family, Emperor Taisho bestowed on his third son Arisugawa-no-miya Takehito’s former title, Takamatsu-no-miya. His Highness Takamatsu-no-miya eventually opened the villa as a memorial park to the public in 1934.
There are bronze statues in a Japanese garden and a square.

「江戸時代は陸奥盛岡藩下屋敷」でしたが、「1896年に有栖川宮威仁親王」が移り、その後は高松宮御用地に。1934年より記念公園となりました。日本庭園や広場に銅像があります。

TOKYO METROPOLITAN TEIEN ART MUSEUM
東京都庭園美術館

The building was once the residence of Prince Yasuhiko Asaka. After World War II, it served as a state guesthouse. It is now opened to the public as a metropolitan art museum.
There are both Japanese-style and European-style gardens, and tearooms in the museum.
The interior of the building has been decorated with Art Deco designs and displayed Rene Lalique’s works such as chandeliers.

旧朝香宮邸として利用された後に迎賓館等になり、現在は都立美術館として利用されています。和洋の庭園や茶室があり、内装はアール・デコで装飾され、シャンデリアなどルネ・ラリックの作品もあります。

After serving as a villa owned by the Tokugawa shogunate and the Satsuma domain in the Edo period, the traditional place became Japanese gardens, restaurants and teahouses run buy businessmen. It has been open as “Happo-en” since 1950 and been mainly used for restaurants and wedding ceremonies.

江戸時代に幕府や薩摩藩の屋敷として利用された後に、実業家により日本庭園や料亭、茶室等が整備されました。
1950年より八芳園として開業し、レストランや結婚式場などにも利用されています。
